Elara pulled herself to her feet. The round eggs hatching all around. Dragons tumbled from their shells onto the sand then ran to stop at the feet of the human (or human like) watchers. Dolperi stood next to her, equally in awe of what was going on around them. The hatchlings seemed to be choosing, though neither dark mage knew exactly how or why.
Elara didn't notice a light black four-winged dragon approaching them. Dolperi knelt cautiously and held out his hand. But the creature brushed past and leaned lovingly against the Mage. Elara could see the emotion in Dolperi's eyes as he looked up at her
"He... Vaofykath..." The man said haltingly. Elara smiled but said nothing. She watched him stand and walk the little light black out, following the other pairs. She watched after them for a long while. She thought of leaving, but something told her that she should stay.

She watched the eggs hatch and the dragons waddle over to their chosen. She heard the crowd around the sands cheering as the hatchling chose, but the language was strange, so Elara stayed put, and none of the people around her tried to speak to her.
She returned her attention to the eggs before her. One egg caught her eye and she found herself staring at it, waiting for something. Slowly the shell cracked and a dark gemlike dragon spilled out. CysscatainthThis hatchling was not a white gem, but rather, a black one, with opalescent rainbow markings on her dark wings. This Dark Opal made Elara grin, or at least made the corner of her mouth curl up in a smirk. The hatchling trotted defiantly up to her.
I am Cysscatainth. I hope you're not afraid of the dark. The hatchling said.
"I am the Dark," Elara laughed. She could feel Cysscatainth's mind in hers. She also felt the dragon's hunger. "Come, little one," she said still smiling at the little Cyss at her feet. "Let's go find Dolperi and his little winged one."
