_ Elraen sat looking out over the small garden next to the house. She leaned up against her favorite oak tree, her music book in her lap. She quietly scribbled down musical notes forming a new song.
She heard a quiet rustle from behind her. She ignored it as just the wind sweeping through the garden. The sun was high overhead, just past lunch. Birds were singing all around in the large garden behind the house. The sky was fairly clear, only a few small clouds dotted the light blue sky. The waters of the cove were calm, the waves gently lapping the sand.
"How's your song coming?" Elraen jumped at the familiar voice from above her. She glanced up at Thalion who was smiling boyishly down at her, well pleased that he had surprised her.
"Thalion, why do you always have to sneak up on me?" she scolded giving him a stern look. He just smiled and crouched down next to her peering over her shoulder. Leaning close he examined the music she had wrote.
"Looks good. Of coarse, you will have to sing it to me."
"When it's finished," she told him sternly. Then she saw his eyes examining her closely, a tender smile on his face. She blushed and ducked her head.
Thalion chuckled. "We've been married almost a year and a half and you still blush every time I look at you." He leaned in and kissed the diamond birth mark on her neck tenderly.
Suddenly a loud bugle sounded in the sky above them. Both looked up to see a brown dragon circling down to land in the garden clearing near by. Thalion rose and greeted the rider.
"C'nad! Good to see you again! How is everything on the Isle?"
"Good, good," the rider said with a smile, sliding to the ground. "Lady Morel has me on search duty again. Hopefully we'll have a regular searchrider one of these days."
Elraen quietly stepped up behind her husband. "C'nad you haven't met my wife have you? This is Elraen, Elraen this is C'nad, rider of brown Zorianalth. They're searchriders for Tol-Eleni. Tol-Eleni doesn’t have any sands of there own so they search for other places, right?" Thalion glanced over to make sure he had remembered it all correctly.
C'nad nodded, then frowned studying Elraen's face as if trying to remember something. "I remember you," he finally said. "A year or so ago down in the village. You're the one who took off through the crowd."
Elraen nodded. "I didn't want to be caught just then."
"Well, I don't like leaving a job undone." He smiled at her and called his dragon over. Elraen looked in shock as the brown turned towards them.
Elraen glanced over at her husband, she could see mischief sparkle in his eyes. The brown looked her over then dipped his head towards C'nad.
The brown rider smiled. "Zory says you would make a great candidate."
Next thing she knew she was spinning around in Thalion's arms. He kissed her, hugged her and kissed her again.
"I knew you could do it!" he said with a wide smile.
"Thalion I haven't done anything yet!" she stammered trying in vain to regain her balance.
"Oh, I know you'll bond to the most beautiful dragon...well anywhere!" He began to swing her about again.

It took several minutes for the excitement to wear off and Elraen was still buzzing for hours.
"When do I need to leave?" Elraen asked the brown rider.
"As soon as you can. I'll take you to Catena. I know they have a clutch in need of bonders," he answered. Elraen turned to her husband.
"What about you?" she asked him softly.
"I'm coming with, love. I want to see you bond."
"But what about the house and the business." she asked waving her arm towards their home and towards the harbor.
"Zaric can handle everything. I was planning on doing that anyway. Come on! Let's go pack! It will only take us a little while, C'nad. If you don't mind waiting?"
"I'll head down to the village, to see if there are any potentials, and come back here when I'm done."
They agreed and the rider remounted his dragon while Elraen and Thalion walked back to the house.
"I'm glad you're going with me," she whispered looping her arm around his.
